John O’Keefe, age 74, passed away, with his loving family by his side, on January 11th, 2020 in Manchester, NH. John was born October 27th, 1945 in Wayland, MA to Thomas and Madeline O’Keefe. He graduated from Wayland High School in 1964 and then continued his education at Nathaniel Hawthorn College, graduating with a Bachelors degree in English. Shortly after graduating, John opened his first pub in Claremont, NH. From there he went on to own and operate over 30 successful establishments in Southern NH. His popular bars becoming staples in the Manchester area for over 4 decades. He not only took great pride in his business but truly relished the many great friends he made throughout the years.
An avid sailor, John was most happy behind the helm of his boat on the open sea. Over the years he had the pleasure of sailing the beautiful coast of Maine and the islands of the The Caribbean, as well as making an epic Trans-Atlantic voyage, sailing his boat to Ireland and back.
John leaves behind his loving wife Jill, his children, Jennifer and Johnathan, his sister Cathy and husband Larry Scott, his grandchildren, Joslyn and Liam, and many, many dear friends.
Calling hours will be held at Goodwin Funeral Home on Friday, January 17th from 3-7 pm. The memorial service will be on Saturday, January 18th at 10 am, also at The Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St, Manchester, NH 03104.
