Joyce C. (Hurd) Diemer, 92, passed away at her home in Bedford, NH on July 19, 2020. Joyce was born on January 9, 1928, in Lynn, MA, the daughter of Frank Alden Hurd and Prudence Adele (Donovan) Hurd. On September 11, 1954, she married William F. Diemer of Philadelphia, PA.
Joyce graduated from Lynn English High School with the Class of 1946. Later in life she attended Salem State College where she obtained a Special Education Certificate. Joyce began her career in the early 1970’s with the Dutchmaid Clothing Co. as a clothing representative; and from 1981-2000, she enjoyed teaching in the Lynn Public School Department as a Special Education Teacher’s Aide.
In 2000, Joyce moved to NH with her family and became a member of the Chester Congregational Church. She enjoyed spending time with many of the church parishioners, and soon became involved with the Chester Senior Center, serving as its President for one term. Joyce was a longtime dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and watched enthusiastically as the New England Patriots brought home the many Superbowl trophies over the years, all while wearing a #12 tee shirt. She also had a penchant for reading as well as crossword and sudoku puzzles, knitting, and oil painting.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Bequette and her partner, Rick Thompson of Bedford, NH, her niece Gail Hurd and nephew William Hurd of Lynn. She is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Diemer, her sister and four brothers.
